The Reptile Zoo

If you’re looking for an experience where your children can see a variety of reptiles from around the world, The Reptile Zoo is the place to go. Their mission is to educate the public about these animals and their care.

The Reptile Zoo houses over 100 exotic species of reptiles, amphibians, and arachnids from around the world. Here guests can learn about these rare animals first hand with interactive displays and presentations if they’re brave enough! Read on for some ideas.

What to Expect

The Reptile Zoo Fountain Valley CA is a family-run, educational and fun zoo that houses hundreds of reptiles from all over the world. It is a great place for children to see and interact with these animals, and is also a popular destination for birthday parties and group events.

The owner of The Reptile Zoo, Jay Brewer, runs the business with his three daughters Laura, Juliette and Andrea and a small staff of 20. The zoo is home to more than 100 exotic reptiles, amphibians and arachnids from around the globe.

There are chameleons, caimans, terrapins, tortoises, bearded dragons, geckos and skinks. They are all housed in wall-to-wall cubbies and tanks, along with frogs, toads, iguanas and tarantulas.

They also have alligators, pythons and boas. A couple of the critters are quite unique — namely, Frank the two-headed rat snake and Darth the alligator who recently broke free of his enclosure during feeding time. He was then wrangled back in by his handler and father-daughter team.

Animals

The Reptile Zoo Fountain Valley CA is home to 100+ exotic species of reptiles, amphibians and arachnids. These animals come from all over the world, many are rescues, some are born at The Reptile Zoo and others are part of private collections.

A unique educational entertainment facility, The Reptile Zoo is a fun place to visit with your entire family. Guests can feed the turtles in the 2,000 gallon pond, interact with the animals at their interactive booth and learn more about them through presentations.

I recommend bringing your kids here if you’re looking for something different to do on a weekend day trip. They’ll enjoy feeding the turtles and taking pictures with a python or a large albino tortoise!

The reptile zoo is owned by Jay Brewer, an ex-fisherman who started the store in 1988. Today, he’s got three adult daughters and a staff of about 20. He’s also become a social media star, thanks to his millions of followers on TikTok and Instagram. Explore more!

Feedings

The Reptile Zoo Fountain Valley CA is home to 100 exotic species of reptiles, amphibians and arachnids. Located inside Prehistoric Pets, it’s a fun place for families to visit and learn about these often misunderstood animals.

The zoo recently underwent a major renovation that included a new Casa de Tortuga exhibit. Guests can now hand-feed giant pythons and rescued sulcata turtles.

In a video posted to TikTok, keeper Juliette Brewer entices Darth the alligator to get closer to a piece of meat in the feeding tongs. But when he snaps his jaws around the tongs and tries to launch himself out of his enclosure, she calls her father Jay for help.

Brewer and her daughter said the zoo’s social media virality is helping to increase their business. They told KABC that they have had a billion views on the TikTok account in 30 days.
